This morning we were up at 5.30 again to start at 6.30am . We had to put out large tubs of food for Harry’s herd, then we watched them eat and then interact with each other which was a lovely thing to do first thing in the morning . We don’t get much chance to watch Harry’s herd as we do all our observations on Sally’s Herd. Harry is enormous and there are babies in his herd which is cute. We then had to wait for the herd to leave the enclosure then we had to pile up all the bits of eaten branches , then the trailer came with fresh branches and we unloaded them; then put all the old ones on the trailer. It was good to get stuck into some physical work . Next was printing on the poop paper and 4 hours field observations.
it was windy out in the field today , particularly this afternoon and got a bit chilly and not many of us had taken our field jackets ๐ฆ
We finished early to get the minibus to the mall to get some shopping for the next week. It was strange to see actual roads and houses after just seeing the park and dirt tracks every day.
This evening I was on shift to observe the elephants outside sleeping quarters from 6-7.30. Sitting out on the viewing platform on my own watching the elephants whilst they sauntered and grazed was extremely tranquil – I was out there as it began to get dark and it was so noisy with the sounds of crickets and birds , but yet so incredibly peaceful; being at one with nature… Just so so amazing !

Wow!!!! Xxx
