2nd week – Monday 12th Oct

Today Donna and I had a sleep in – 8.30 start instead of 6.30! It was Sandy’s last day so she got up early to see Harry’s Herd being fed. It was sad to say goodbye and she found it hard to leave after being here for 3 weeks

We all had a presentation by Dr Debbie about the research project that we are involved in which is very interesting.
If anyone is interested in finding out more the website for the African Elephant Research Unit is

The address for the park is

My duties for today were dung project , field observations, data input and feeding Harry’s herd
It was beautiful and sunny this morning but the wind got up whilst out in the field this afternoon and it got quite chilly

As always it’s a pleasure to spend any time with the elephants … Even if you don’t get a lunch break ! Hopefully I’ll get one tomorrow 😏

At least we finally got a kettle for our room and celebrated with a cup of tea !

Joke of the day:
Q: How do you prevent an elephant from charging?
A: Take away his credit card
